I’m homeless, now what?

Are you homeless or at risk of becoming homeless?

Rough sleeping is one form of homelessness but it’s certainly not the only one. You could be homeless even if you have a roof over your head.

Some non-conventional and short-term or emergency examples include…

  • Couch surfing
  • In a refuge or crisis accommodation
  • In a boarding house
  • Unsafe at home
  • Living in over crowded conditions
  • Unable to afford rent
  • At risk of losing your tenancy
  • Squatting or camping

You may have experienced one or more of these too…

  • Relationship/family breakdown
  • Domestic/family violence
  • Mental health issues (you or another person in your household)
  • Alcohol, drug or substance abuse (you or another person in household)
  • Child abuse or neglect
  • Discrimination
  • Antisocial behaviour
  • Unemployment
  • Other financial pressure

If you’re a young woman who is homeless, maybe we can help!

We will require you to contact an intake and assessment service, who will explore your options with you and assess whether Karinya is the most appropriate service to meet your needs. If Karinya is an appropriate option they will contact us to make a formal referral.
